Lesley Halliwell
I watched 'James May: My Sisters' Top Toys' on BBC2, where he looked at all the toys from his childhood found in his sisters toybox. One of which was the spirograph where he found it it hard to use without mistake but also mentioning the work of Lesley Halliwell who uses spirographs to create large colourful pieses with the small spirograph patterns. I thought this was an interesting way to use somthing as redundant as a childs toy to make the dynamic monochromatic ink drawings.

Cut Out Maps Shadows
Having my cut out maps layered together i saw that it created shadows between the cut out roads. I looked at small sections and drew only the shadows to create the image of the layered roads.
Taking inspiration from Tord laser cut pieces I've looked at making more shadows with my cut out maps by shining bright light onto maps giving a off a shadow pattern of the roads.

Melinda Gibson
Looking briefly at Melinda Gibson's style of work I've attempted to create my own using one of my own images. I cut out sections in the pictures like parts of the dress and table legs. finding patterns online i placed them each on a layer behing the cut outy image. I also used this technique to cover the table completely with a copy of the tabble clothe so it looks covered over as the table wasn't fitting with the style of the picture.

Gregory Crewdson
Gregory Crewdson’s soft lighting make his images feel like miniature sets where each detail is carefully arranged. He creates these images of suburban living, but showing that nothing is never what it seems. In these you expect these areas to be the perfect living experience but they are twisted to show unlikely and bizzare scenarios behind every door.

My New Working Space
We've now moved over to our new art room and I've now got my own new working space. I have one less I'm missing a left wall but I have a huge back wall and a temporary second table to work on until we get a sewing machine there which I'm looking forward to. I was worried I wasn't gonna get a nice spot because I was the last to pick, so I got what was left over but I love my spot more than any of the other, I'm just lucky.

Street Photography
Found this blog really interesting, with black and white street photography. They give these interesting pictures that all have a unknown story with different exposures.
It makes me want to go out with my camera to take my own, shame i don't travel much by train and Nuneaton isn't a very interest area to take pictures of. I may try this in my current work with travelling.

Finally, My Day Has Come!
I've wanted this for so long! When I was in year 7 I would see people's work up everywhere around school and since then I've always desired for my own work to be displayed for everyone to see and admire just like I did. I dreamed of the day my work would be presented, but alas my work was never fortunate. Until Today! Happy days for me when I saw two pieces from my A level (last two) on show in the new art room. There is nobody is more excited about having their work up than me

Cut Out Map Photography
I created my own cut out maps like Karen O'leary and used them in photos in front of different backgrounds. I walked round my village looking for textured backgrounds, views of roads or things related to travel to take photos of through my cut out maps.
My next idea in shining light through them to make shadows.

Karen O'leary: Cut Maps
Karen O'leary creates these hand cut city prints across the world. O'leary cuts out all of the land leaving delicate webs of streets. I was instantly drawn to these, such a simple idea that I wish I thought of first. I also liked how they cast shadows and that you can view through the piece.
